COURT SCAM: Warning From Iowa Judicial Branch

Originally posted on

Iowa court officials are warning of a scam that involves the Judicial Branch.

Officials say spam e-mails are circulating that say a complaint was received, or a court order restitution is due, or a trial date with the Court of Appeals is set.

Anyone who receives the e-mail shouldn’t open or respond to it — or click on any links.

Officials say valid e-mail correspondence from the court will not ask for money, request a Social Security number, direct the recipient to call a phone number, or advice the reader to download a document.
